11 Blue Square canvases will be added to the fund of the Zenit museum
On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Zenit football club on the initiative of PJSC Gazprom, the club museum will be enriched with a collection of eleven graphic sketches by St. Petersburg artist Olga Tobreluts.
The collection of paintings was created in August 2019 as part of the Blue Square charity project organized by Zenit FC and the State Hermitage Museum. Head coach Sergei Semak and players of St. Petersburg club after visiting the 20th century art exhibition took part in painting eleven works based on the famous “Black Square” by Kazimir Malevich according to the Olga's sketches, but in Zenit colors. The project was curated by the eminent art historian Arkady Ippolitov (1958–2023).
In 2023, during SPIEF, the paintings were presented at the 1703 Saint Petersburg Art Fair and then donated to the Gazprom Cultural Initiatives Foundation.
This summer, more than 100,000 fans were able to see the Blue Square exhibition in the bowl of Gazprom Arena stadium at the first three home Zenit matches in the new Russian Premier League season.
